Unabhängiges Jugendzentrum Pankow

The JUP works according to the principle of self-organization; everyone can get involved, take responsibility and help shape things. Anyone interested can also become a member of the association and participate in decision-making processes. When young people from Pankow occupied the building that now houses the JUP shortly after reunification, it was also about creating a free space for culture and communication. This has remained the case to this day. Everyone should feel comfortable in the JUP, regardless of their skin color, origin, gender or sexual orientation. The “Stilbruch” café on the ground floor of the building has always been the center for the more colorful part of Pankow's youth. Because of its democratic and human rights orientation, the JUP has been repeatedly attacked by right-wingers and neo-Nazis in all the years of its existence, without this being able to change the course of the house. The JUP is a special meeting place for young people. Projects and courses that take place in our house are organized by you. It's all about what you want and what you make of it. Our core group consists of teenagers and young adults aged between 15 and 27. Courses and projects usually take place once a week. You can find out the current times for our offer on the notice board in the JUP hallway or from the staff in the office. If you would like to use our rooms for your projects or organize a course with friends, we will be happy to answer your questions and help you with the planning.

Always check the organisation's website for possible updates before you visit a service.

  • Clothes

    Description
Umsonst Boutique. Our free shop, the Umsonst Boutique im JUP, is located on the ground floor of the building: in times of a wear-and-tear and throwaway society, we want to set an example: against consumerism and in favour of recycling! Everyone has items of clothing at home that are too small or no longer fit. These can be handed in to us or creatively upcycled. What sets us apart from ordinary second-hand shops? Our items are accessible to everyone. So nothing is sold or swapped. We want to raise awareness of the fact that many of the things we would buy are already unused. The Umsonstboutique is always open for you when the open area of the youth centre is open. This is usually from 11:00 to 16:00, Mondays to Fridays. Please pop into the café or ring the bell at the JUP office. However, due to staff shortages and illness, the youth centre may not be open after all, so the safest thing to do is to contact us in advance and ask again: 030 48 63 82 00 or our JUP mobile phone 0151 16557914. If you would like us to open more often, please contact info(at)jup-ev.org if you are interested in supporting us.

  • Sports room

    Description
The sports room is one of the largest rooms in the JUP. The room is covered with mats and has several punching bags and a mirrored wall. The sports room is currently used by groups for various sports (boxing, self-defence), often in addition to the building's weight and fitness room. In the mornings, children from various children's centres bustle through the room several days a week.
